Chipmunk Taking A Rest

This chipmunk may be taking a nap with its eyes open. I walked up to it, about 6 feet away, and it didn’t move, like it couldn’t see me. Sat there like that for about 20 minutes. I’ve read that squirrels can sleep with their eyes open. I know that birds can.

Thank you. The chipmunk was sitting there waiting for it, like, “Alright, Bix, I’m ready for my closeup.”

Not a photographer, maybe a vet. Or maybe both. I like wildlife. Maybe study music, create sounds. Can you have a career as a hermit? I’ve considered it.

I would like to be a genie and give everyone in the world three wishes. There is so much talent hidden behind a life of labor.

I don’t know, there’s just too many ways to finish the sentence: “If I had it to do over, I’d_______________.”

      How would you?

Tough question, but a good Gedankenexperiment. One thing I’ve thought about often is how if I went to college again, I would double major in anthropology or geography (social science) and botany or ornithology (natural science).

You can kind of have a career as a hermit if you join a contemplative order.

Your photography of natural scenes and landscapes if beautiful. You definitely have an eye.

It does seem that as life progresses, interests change. I had very little interest in history as I was growing up. I want to say that I regret not paying attention more, but that’s just not who I was then.

I was thinking of this quote:
Those who cannot learn from history are doomed to repeat it.

And saw this, on Wikipedia, which I also like (less the savages part):
When experience is not retained, as among savages, infancy is perpetual.
