I can’t leave this article about drugs in fish without highlighting this:
Nearly 5 billion medications are prescribed annually in the US alone, and the average American has about 12 prescriptions a year.
Drugs are in fish because drugs are in people.*
* … and wastewater treatment plants aren’t removing them.
