Interactive Map, PFAS Contamination in the US (October 4, 2021), Environmental Working Group (EWG), October 2021

The number of U.S. communities confirmed to be contaminated with the highly toxic fluorinated compounds known as PFAS continues to grow at an alarming rate. As of August 2021, 2,854 locations in 50 states and two territories are known to be contaminated.

On 16 November 2021, less than 3 weeks ago, the EPA issued a press release in which they said:

EPA has transmitted to the Science Advisory Board four draft documents with recent scientific data and new analyses that indicate that negative health effects may occur at much lower levels of exposure to PFOA and PFOS than previously understood and that PFOA is a likely carcinogen.

PFAS are now thought to be one of the most concerning contaminants in US drinking water.
