Frozen Nest And Giving Thanks

This is an old abandoned robin’s nest from the summer, frozen now like the water in the tray next to it where she used to bathe. I say abandoned because she never used it. I watched her build it, just 10 feet from my back door. Flying in with clumps of muddy grass that she positioned then sat on to form that cup shape. She even decorated it with thinner, leafy stems that dangled and swayed when the wind blew. Less than a week from start to finish. I’m guessing it was too close to the house, too many other birds flying in that she’d have to fight off. And My God do robins have a fighty nature! So, I’m saving all those memories in this photo. And thanking her for them.
